The best baking recipes for kids

Easy banana bread:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 bananas)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Chocolate chip cookies:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking bakery packaging sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Gingerbread cookies:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the flour.
  4. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out cookies with desired shapes and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
